Environmental Design - Project 2

Hey there! :D Today's entry could be longer. It's about my second Environmental Project. Have a look then :)

Project 2
Name : Morphosis Design Model
Theme : Hijrah
Conceptual Idea : Clef Treble
Estimated duration of doing : A month
Date Issued : 31 January
Date Finished :  25 February
Size : 350mm x 350mm x 350mm
Maximum Height : 250mm
No of planes : 106 planes.

Design Synopsis
Basically, this design is inspired by the shape of Clef Treble. Based on the theme Hijrah given, the design is all about knowledge. The model starts from a simple small triangle with a very dark green. It symbolises people who have the least of knowledge. Then, the planes variously increase in sizes and shapes. It simply represent people are keep seeking knowledge even though they only gain very little knowledge. Sometimes win and for sure sometimes it can be in the other way around. That’s the fitrah. So, the planes are getting smaller even though before it increase both size and height. Despite someone has a lot of knowledge, but then the moment he misuses it, the knowledge is actually nothing.
Apart from that, this design consists of several principles of design. Firstly, there’s a hierarchy. The hierarchy is very obtrusive as it is the highest part and the only part has the horizontal planes. Secondly,  there are a lot of rhythm used. The gradation in terms of height and size can be seen at the hierarchy itself. Besides that, the principle of repetition is widely used in this model and technically it is shown around the hierarchy as well. Moreover, there’s also a datum that holds the whole model. Last but not least, of course the whole design has the principle of balance.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1. A free-standing finished serial plane model on 350mm x 350mm acrylic datum plane.
2. An A2 presentation board.

P/S :
Okay, guess you're questioning what exactly this model is. :D Actually, this is a serial plane model or in simpler word, series of plane model. It's not a building, it's not a tower, it's a serial plane. Erm, I think I can see u're still finding the exact answer :P. Okay, for further inquiries, you can visit Basic Design 2 - Serial Planes.

Graphic Communication 1

Alhamdulillah, this is my first presence here. Basically, the first post will be my artworks, InsyaAllah. Terdetik rasa hati nak post, sebab a lot of SPM leavers out there need some info on what they'll learn in University later on. To be honest, architecture never crossed my mind before, but now I'm in this arena. Frankly, this course is simply awesome! Sumpah best! :D  So, this post is all about Architecture and Environmental Design. :)
  • Location : CFS of International Islamic University of Malaysia.
  • Average time given : 4 drawings in a week.
  • Studio Master : Madam Normadiah Kamal
  • Semester : 1
  • These are the fundamental drawings before further in architectural studies. :D

Actually, it consists of two general parts. The first part is line works.
First exercise. Straight line tu freehand okay :D
Exercise 2

Exercise 3
Exercise 4

Exercise 5 : Architectural Lettering
Exercise 6 : Poem using architectural lettering

Exercise 7 : Come to Technical Drawings
Exercise 8
Exercise 9 : Rendering Technique
Exercise 10 : Applying rendering techniques in simple shapes

Exercise 11 : This is one of my drawings I like the most. So do you? :)
From 4 techniques of rendering, I choose stippling technique to give this Holy Quran shades and shadows
:)

Then, come to my favorite part, colouring. Technically we're learning several colour mediums such as pencil colour, watercolour, charchoal etc. Have a look :D

Exercise 12 : Pencil Colour. Unknown fruit =.='
Exercise 13 : Pastel.

Exercise 14 : Charcoal.

Exercise 15 : Marker. Strictly, I wanna say, this is not a DG vice.
Ni Pengesan Kiblat. Tak caye sudah :D
Exercise 16 : Still Life Drawing. simply means, we draw the object lively.
Exercise 17 : Water Colour

Exercise 18 :  Mix Media. In this exercise, we're allowed to use all colour mediums.
So, in my drawing above, all mediums in except for charcoal. :D

Fyi, we also have A2 presentation boards. Means that, bigger size, longer time, higher weightage of marks. Higher pressure as well :P

Exercise 19 : So, this is the first presentation board. It's all about the composition of Masjid Besi.
Here, our rendering skills are tested. Duration of doing is about a week.

Exercise 20 : Second presentation board. Sorry, for the incomplete colour. :P
Apart from that, we also have sketch tasks. (Seriously tak mcm sketch langsung) :D So, below are some of them.

Sketch Task 1 : Watch.

Sketch Task 2 : Malaysia Flag.

Actually, there are other sketches but the pictures is unavailable. :(

And, this is my studio master, Madam Normadiah Kamal. :D
